A letter from the Mayor, Cllr Andrea Morgan, 18th May 2010

I am very honoured to have been elected as Upton's Town Mayor, and thank my fellow councillors for their faith in me.

Paul Thomas, our past Mayor, worked hard for our town, and was a good ambassador, exalting the virtues of Upton both far and wide.

Upton is very fortunate to have a number of people, besides Councillors, who work hard for the town, and we as a Council try to work alongside them for the good of the community. However, the Council has to answer not only to the community, but also to higher Government departments. Council alone holds the mandate, protocol most be adhered to or we could be held in disrepute. If only it were as simple as saying 'Yes' - life would be so easy! So have patience with your Council, each topic is important. YOURS may be one of them. Red tape seems to get in the way of lots of issues, through no fault of ours. As a Council, we do our utmost to achieve the wishes of the townspeople.

If you have a grievance, let your Council know about it - we can't help if we don't know.

This is YOUR TOWN, and as a Council we are here to manage it's affairs to the best of our abilities, working with you to take Upton upon Severn forward.
